GIGG (Growing in God’s Grace) is the name of the First Lutheran confirmation program.  It is for youth in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade.  

GIGG is based on building relationships with God, peers, and adult Guides. GIGG meets on Wednesday evenings — September to May — from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  A congregational meal, open to ALL, is served from the church kitchen prior to GIGG from 6-6:30 p.m. on all lesson/service nights.   Families involved in GIGG take turns preparing the meal; others, including Youth Group (FLY) and Good News Hour (GNH) participants and families, are welcome to help prepare and serve. 

GIGG includes a mixture of lessons, service projects, and fellowship events for the students and their guides. An adult GIGG GUIDE works with each GIGG small group.  A typical lesson night includes announcements and a lesson led by the pastor. After the lesson, the students break into small groups with their GIGG Guide. In the small groups, they discuss topics ranging from that night’s lesson, highs, and lows of their week, to current issues. The evening concludes with a prayer. Throughout the year there are various dates when we do service/fellowship activities to put our faith into practice.  Contact the pastor or church office if you have questions about GIGG.

Acolytes Schedule:

Unlike previous years, there is only ONE acolyte assigned per service. If you are unable to be there, you are responsible for finding a substitute. An email will be sent out after GIGG registration info is collected so you have a list of email addresses to contact families to arrange swaps. New this year – families listed on this schedule will receive an email 2-3 days before the service with a reminder that their child is the acolyte. Please be sure to remind whoever you swapped with as we will not have that updated information.

Important acolyte notes:

• 6th graders will be added in as of September
• One acolytes is scheduled each week 
• If you cannot attend Sunday worship, arrange to swap dates with another GIGG student.
• Contact information for GIGG students is on the printed schedule handed out in class.
