2019 November Ministry Focus: Adopt-a-Family

Adopt-a-Family Sunday, November 17- Wednesday, Dec. 4 get ready to go Christmas shopping! Members of First Lutheran will have the opportunity to shop for a child in need because we are once again part of Le Sueur County’s Adopt-a-Family Christmas. Ten families will give us their wishes for the basics: coats, hats, mittens, shoes, boots, socks and other clothing.

On Sunday, November 17, provided the family wish lists are ready by then, our Giving Tree will be in the narthex filled with tags. Each tag will include a gift item as well as any other information we are given such as age, gender, and size. You may choose a tag or two from the tree as your shopping list.!

All gifts must be delivered unwrapped and labeled with the original tag from the tree to our Giving Tree. Please include a gift receipt with your purchases if possible. The last day to drop off gifts is Wednesday, December 4.

Cash donations are accepted as well. FLC will shop for any tags left on the tree with your donations. Clothing items for teens are also being purchased for a “store” at the Santa Anonymous event, where parents will be able to choose from a wide selection to find just the right size and style for their teenagers.

The Adopt-a-Family Christmas is coordinated through Le Sueur County Human Services. They find families in our county who could use our help getting their children some new clothes, and, each year, the number of children in need has grown. St. Wenceslaus Parish in New Prague arranges for families, organizations, and churches to adopt and shop for the chosen families.
