Good News Hour
Good News Hour (Sunday Church school) is held from 9:05 a.m. - 10:15 a.m.
during the school year. Children -- includes three year olds through sixth
grade -- are grouped by age. Good News Hour activities include story time,
music, crafts, lessons and a snack.
G.I.G.G.
G.I.G.G. (Growing in God's Grace) is the name of our confirmation program
that involves seventh-, eighth-, and ninth-grade students and their adult
guides. G.I.G.G. meets on Wednesday evenings -- September to May -- from
6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Pizza is available to purchase on lesson nights
from 5:50 p.m. to 6:25 p.m.
G.I.G.G. is based on curriculum developed by Rich Melheim and the Faith
Inkubators. It includes a mixture of lessons, service projects, and fellowship
events for the students and their guides.
A typical lesson night includes an "ice breaker" activity, followed
by a lesson lead by the Pastor. After the lesson the students break into
small groups with their guide. In the small groups they discuss topics
ranging from lessons, highs and lows of their week, to current issues.
The evening concludes with a blessing.
Service projects and fellowship events also are scheduled throughout the
year on Wednesday evenings in place of a lesson.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a week-long summer program of Christian
education and fun for children aged 3 years to 6th grade. It is conducted
with three other congregations in Le Sueur and is typically held the first
week after school is out. Opportunities to volunteer vary from planning
the program or leading the Bible exploration, crafts, or music to being
a crew leader, a general helper, or nursery care provider.
